Who this fits
Price-sensitive shoppers
Customers who'd rather walk five minutes and save on delivery than pay a city-zone rate.
Hard-to-find addresses
Suburbs and informal areas where an exact door address is unreliable — but the local pharmacy is a landmark.
Working customers
Customers who can't take a daytime delivery and want to collect on their schedule.
Common questions
What is a PUDO point?
A Pick-Up Drop-Off location — a trusted local shop, pharmacy, petrol station, or mini-mart where customers collect or return parcels. It's cheaper and more reliable than door delivery in many African neighborhoods.
How does the customer collect?
They get a notification with the partner's address and a parcel code. They show the code (and ID for higher-value parcels), the partner hands over the parcel, and the system logs the collection.
What if a parcel isn't collected?
PUDO partners hold parcels for a defined window. Uncollected parcels are returned through MFT's structured returns flow — see Returns Handling.
Can I become a PUDO partner?
Yes — see the PUDO partner kit. MFT vets shops in serviceable areas, provides signage and training, and supplies a simple parcel handling flow.
Can a customer pay cash on delivery when collecting at a PUDO point?
Where COD is configured for that market, yes — the partner takes payment on collection using the same methods as door delivery, and the collection is reconciled on the same daily manifest. Where COD is not configured, the parcel must be prepaid before it is routed to a pickup point.
Does someone else collect on the buyer's behalf?
A nominated collector can pick up with the parcel reference, and identification matching the order name is asked for on higher-value parcels. Any stricter rule — a value threshold or a signature requirement — is set in your service schedule so your customer messaging matches what partners actually enforce.
Which markets have live PUDO collection?
PUDO is not switched on everywhere. Each country page publishes a capability matrix showing whether pickup is live, partner-operated, route-based or not configured in that market, and the coverage table lists the specific areas it applies to.
