3PL fulfillment in Zambia — Lusaka-coordinated storage, COD delivery and returns.

MFT acts as your Zambia 3PL: storage where available in Lusaka, pick and pack, door delivery across serviceable areas, cash on delivery with kwacha reconciliation where supported, PUDO collection and returns — so you can test Zambia before leasing a warehouse.

Local operating reality

Built for market entry without opening a warehouse too early.

For many sellers, Zambia is a growth market — but leasing a warehouse in Lusaka, hiring local staff, managing riders, and setting up customer follow-up too early can become expensive. Most Zambian ecommerce demand is concentrated around Lusaka and the Copperbelt (Ndola, Kitwe), buyers still expect to pay on delivery in cash or via MTN MoMo and Airtel Money, and generic courier services stop at the delivery attempt — they don't hold your stock, confirm the buyer, reconcile cash, or restock returns. MFT Zambia gives sellers a practical third-party logistics setup instead: storage where available, order preparation, delivery coordination across Lusaka and selected serviceable areas, customer collection through PUDO, cash on delivery where it is supported, and returns handling.

Check your Zambia route before you send stock

Share a location pin or enter a province and district / area. MFT confirms which services are available for that exact route — nothing is marked covered until an operator verifies it.

Your browser asks permission before sharing a pin, and MFT uses the location only to review serviceability. WhatsApp opens a draft you choose whether to send. MFT does not detect your location by IP address.

Honest comparison

Comparing fulfillment companies in Zambia? Here's exactly what MFT runs.

Most Zambia sellers shortlist two or three providers before committing stock. So rather than claim to be the best, here is a plain list of what MFT operates in Zambia and what it does not — use it to compare against any other provider on your list.

What MFT runs in Zambia

  • Storage in Lusaka where available, with stock counted in on arrival
  • Customer confirmation before a COD order is dispatched
  • Pick, pack and dispatch against your orders
  • Door delivery across Lusaka and selected serviceable areas, Copperbelt quoted route by route
  • Cash, MTN MoMo and Airtel Money collected and reconciled in kwacha on an agreed cadence
  • PUDO collection where door delivery keeps failing
  • Returns collected, inspected and restocked where the product allows
  • Cross-border routes from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda under one operator

What MFT does not cover

  • No nationwide coverage claim — Ndola, Kitwe and other Copperbelt routes are reviewed individually
  • No guaranteed local warehousing; where unavailable, stock is held in a nearby MFT market
  • No published flat rate card; pricing depends on product, weight, volume and route
  • No storage of restricted, perishable or unlicensed regulated products
  • No informal rider cash arrangements — COD is reconciled against your order list

Warehousing and storage

Warehousing solutions in Zambia: where your stock sits and what happens next.

Storage only matters if the stock can be picked, packed and dispatched the same operating day. These are the states operations has signed off — not a warehouse brochure.

Where your stock actually sits

MFT does not list an MFT-operated fulfilment centre in Zambia. Storage is confirmed per product and volume: where local space is available it is arranged in Lusaka, and where it is not, stock is held in a nearby MFT market (Dar es Salaam or Nairobi) and moved in on the corridor. You are told which applies before you ship anything.

MFT does not operate its own facility in Zambia. The storage and dispatch arrangement is named in writing before you ship, so you always know who is holding your stock.

Ecommerce sellers

Ecommerce fulfillment and shipping in Zambia.

Two questions online sellers ask before they move stock into a new African market — answered from this market's own operating record.

Ecommerce fulfillment services in Zambia

Ecommerce fulfillment services in Zambia start at the Lusaka bench: stock is received against a goods-in count, stored under your own SKU list, then picked and packed per order rather than in daily batches. Refused and undelivered parcels come back through the same bench with a reason code attached. That is what makes an order traceable later, when a buyer disputes what arrived.

Ecommerce shipping from Lusaka

Ecommerce shipping out of Lusaka runs against a published dispatch cut-off (same-day dispatch on orders confirmed before midday cat, scheduled runs — confirmed at onboarding) onto the Lusaka, Copperbelt, Central, Southern, Eastern, Northern, Muchinga, Luapula, North-Western, Western coverage rows. Where a buyer is not home, collection is available on the Lusaka rows. Cash on delivery is captured per order in ZMW and reconciled against your manifest.

Not sure your town is serviceable?

Send a location pin or your province and district / area. An operator reviews the exact route and replies on WhatsApp with the storage, delivery, COD and PUDO options available there.

Your browser asks permission before sharing a pin, and MFT uses the location only to review serviceability. WhatsApp opens a draft you choose whether to send. MFT does not detect your location by IP address.

How the operation works

One order, end to end, in Zambia.

Five stages, in the order they happen. Nothing here depends on a route MFT does not run.

  1. 1

    Stock arrives

Inventory is received and counted in Lusaka. MFT's scope begins after destination-country customs clearance — MFT is not your customs broker.

  2. 2

    Order lands

Your order file reaches MFT and is picked and packed against your SKU list.

  3. 3

    Customer confirms

The customer is contacted on WhatsApp to confirm the order and delivery window before a rider is dispatched.

  4. 4

    Delivery attempt

The parcel moves on a route MFT runs in Zambia. Service level follows the coverage row for that destination.

  5. 5

    Money and reconciliation

Collected ZMW is reconciled line by line against your manifest, with the delivery outcome and reason code on the same statement.

Customs and clearance support depends on product type, route, destination market, and documentation provided.

Cash on delivery

How COD money moves in Zambia.

COD is a cash-handling responsibility, not a checkbox. Amounts are collected and settled in ZMW.

Merchant use cases

How sellers typically use MFT in Zambia.

Operational situations MFT supports — not endorsements or guaranteed outcomes.

Local sellers scaling in Zambia

Brands graduating from self-fulfillment use MFT to hold stock, pack orders, and dispatch consistently across Zambia as monthly volume grows.

Sellers handling cash on delivery

Operators whose buyers prefer COD use MFT's structured collection and remittance flow instead of chasing payments rider by rider.

Brands managing failed deliveries and returns

Sellers with high reattempt or returns volume use MFT's confirmed-before-dispatch flow plus PUDO collection to keep delivery costs under control.

These illustrate the kinds of seller and partner situations MFT typically supports. Exact scope, pricing, and outcomes depend on market, product category, route, and operating period.

FAQ

Coverage, collection and dispute questions

Delivery windows, where PUDO collection is available, how disputes are reviewed — and the rest of the common questions about MFT in Zambia.

These are the published service levels on the Zambia coverage rows — Lusaka: 1–2 working days, Copperbelt and Central: 2–4 working days, Southern and Eastern: 3–5 working days and Northern, Muchinga, Luapula, North-Western and Western: 4–6 working days. Dispatch depends on the cut-off (same-day dispatch on orders confirmed before midday cat and scheduled runs — confirmed at onboarding), and the actual window a buyer experiences also depends on customer confirmation, parcel dimensions and the route schedule for that area. For anywhere outside those rows the route is reviewed before an order is accepted; no delivery window is promised until onboarding confirms it.

Collection is available on the Lusaka coverage rows in Zambia. These are vetted partner-operated locations, not MFT-owned branches, so the specific collection point, its opening hours, the holding deadline and the collection evidence required are sent to the buyer with the pickup notification rather than published here.

You raise a line-level query using the reconciliation reference or the parcel reference, within the window stated in your service schedule. MFT then reviews the order reference, the delivery or collection reason code, the custody and rider record, the delivery or collection evidence, the amount collected in Zambian kwacha (ZMW) and the payout batch the line sits in before the query is closed. Outcomes follow that evidence — no automatic refund and no fixed resolution time are promised unless your contract states one.

Operations are coordinated from the MFT office in Lusaka — MFT does not list an MFT-operated warehouse in Zambia, so storage is confirmed per product and volume. Delivery is active delivery to Kitwe, Ndola, Kabwe, and selected Copperbelt and regional towns. Coverage outside these areas is reviewed based on volume, route, and product type.

Most alternatives in Zambia are couriers rather than fulfillment providers: they move the parcel but do not hold your stock, confirm the buyer or reconcile kwacha collections. MFT serves Zambia selectively, with storage where available around Lusaka and Copperbelt routes reviewed individually. The checklist at /resources/fulfillment-companies-zambia sets out the ten questions to put to every provider, including us.

The rider confirms the buyer and order at the door, then takes cash or a MTN MoMo or Airtel Money payment, waits for the confirmation SMS, and hands over the parcel. We reconcile daily and remit in Zambian kwacha on an agreed cadence. COD is eligible for orders with a captured phone and address inside our Zambian coverage zone, in allowed categories, and under a per-parcel value ceiling agreed at onboarding; higher-value or restricted items go prepaid or PUDO. On refusal, no-answer, or partial payment the rider logs a reason code and the parcel is rescheduled up to the agreed number of attempts, then held at a nearby PUDO point or returned to the Lusaka collection point for you to restock, retry, or recall.

PUDO partners are neighbourhood shops and agents in Lusaka and Copperbelt towns. Buyers who miss a door attempt or prefer to collect on their own time can pick up locally, reducing failed deliveries and COD write-offs.

Undelivered or refused parcels come back to the Lusaka collection point, are quality-checked against your return rules, and are restocked, disposed of, or returned to sender per your instructions. Reason codes travel with each parcel so recurring issues stay visible.

Yes, on planned corridors. MFT coordinates the freight leg between supported hubs and Lusaka. Customs entry, permits, and duty payment remain with the seller and their licensed broker — MFT does not provide clearing-agent services.

Submit a quote with Zambia as your delivery market, your product category, expected monthly orders, and target cities. The Lusaka coordination team confirms coverage and proposes a warehousing plus last-mile setup that fits your volume.

Collections are reconciled daily against your manifest and remitted in Zambian kwacha on the payout cadence agreed at onboarding. Cash, MTN MoMo, and Airtel Money receipts are matched parcel by parcel, and the reconciliation report accompanies every payment so you can trace each kwacha to named orders.

COD is configured on the Lusaka, Copperbelt, Central, Southern, Eastern, Northern, Muchinga, Luapula, North-Western and Western coverage rows published on the Zambia country page. Anything outside those rows goes through route review before COD is switched on, because a collection we cannot reconcile is worse for you than a prepaid order.

Collections settle in Zambian kwacha (ZMW). Reconciliation runs daily, against your order manifest, and payout timing is confirmed in your zambia service schedule — the schedule is written into your agreement rather than left open. Every payment arrives with the reconciliation reference behind it, so each amount ties back to named orders.

The rider logs a reason code at the point of refusal — refused, not reachable, wrong address, part payment — and the parcel is rescheduled up to the attempt count agreed at onboarding. After that it is held for collection where a pickup point is available, or brought back to the Lusaka intake for you to restock, retry or recall. The reason code stays attached to the order so repeat failure patterns are visible instead of anecdotal.

Parcels routed to a pickup point are held at a vetted partner location in Lusaka. The buyer gets a collection notification with the parcel reference, collects during the partner's own opening hours, and the collection is logged against the order. Where COD applies, the partner takes payment on collection using the same methods as door delivery.

Collection is verified against the parcel reference and the phone number on the order. Partner locations ask for the reference and, where the order is high value or the collector is not the buyer, identification matching the order name. Rules that go beyond that — a fixed value threshold, a signature requirement — are set in your service schedule so your customer-facing copy can state them accurately.

Returns run on the Lusaka, Copperbelt, Central, Southern, Eastern, Northern, Muchinga, Luapula, North-Western and Western rows. A parcel that is refused, undelivered after the agreed attempts, or left uncollected past its holding window is logged against the original order, brought back for inspection at intake, and resolved on your instruction — restock, hold or return to sender. Who bears each leg and the holding window itself are commercial terms in your agreement, not a site-wide promise.

Stock for Zambia is received and held under the arrangement named on the Zambia country page before you ship anything — Lusaka is the working intake and dispatch point for this market. Goods-in is counted against your manifest, discrepancies are raised the same operating day, and you are told in writing who is holding the stock rather than being given a generic "our warehouse" answer.

Storage, goods-in counting, pick and pack, labelling and dispatch handover run as one sequence for Zambia — stored stock is only useful if it can leave on the same operating day, so both sides sit with the same team. Packaging specification, insert handling and any SKU-level rules are set at onboarding and applied per order, not improvised at the bench.

MFT supports major cities and serviceable regions. Exact delivery coverage, timelines, COD availability, and PUDO options depend on location, product type, order volume, and operating route.
