Fulfillment in Rwanda, run as a pilot and described honestly.

MFT prepares your orders, confirms buyers before dispatch, delivers into Kigali on scheduled runs, collects cash on delivery in Rwandan francs and handles returns — with stock held in the East Africa corridor rather than a Rwandan warehouse.

Local operating reality

A Kigali route, not a nationwide claim.

Rwanda is one of the easiest East African markets to sell into and one of the easiest to overpromise on. Kigali concentrates most online demand, addresses are unusually well structured, and mobile money is widely used — but that does not mean any provider is running daily nationwide delivery. MFT serves Rwanda as a pilot market inside the East Africa corridor: orders are prepared and dispatched on scheduled runs into Kigali, cash on delivery is collected in Rwandan francs and reconciled against your order list, and every province outside Kigali is quoted route by route. There is no MFT-operated warehouse in Rwanda today, and this page will not pretend otherwise.

Honest comparison

Comparing fulfillment companies in Rwanda? Here is exactly what MFT runs.

Rwanda has fewer established third-party operators than Nairobi or Lagos, which makes claims harder to check. Here is a plain list of what MFT operates in Rwanda today and what it does not — compare it line by line against anyone else on your shortlist.

How the operation works

One order, end to end, in Rwanda.

Five stages, in the order they happen. Nothing here depends on a route MFT does not run.

  1. 1

    Stock arrives

Inventory is received and counted in Kigali. MFT's scope begins after destination-country customs clearance — MFT is not your customs broker.

  2. 2

    Order lands

Your order file reaches MFT and is picked and packed against your SKU list.

  3. 3

    Customer contact

The customer is contacted to confirm the order before a rider is dispatched.

  4. 4

    Delivery attempt

The parcel moves on a route MFT runs in Rwanda. Service level follows the coverage row for that destination.

  5. 5

    Outcome and reconciliation

Every parcel closes with a delivery outcome and reason code on your daily statement.

Customs and clearance support depends on product type, route, destination market, and documentation provided.

Operating presence

What MFT physically has in Rwanda.

Office, storage arrangement and merchant desk are three different things — stated separately so nothing is inferred from the word 'hub'.

Cross-border fulfilment only

Storage arrangement

Where your stock actually sits

Rwanda is served as a pilot market. Stock is held in the East Africa corridor and moved into Kigali on scheduled runs — MFT does not operate its own warehouse in Rwanda. Local storage is confirmed per product and volume during route review.

Regional merchant desk

One desk for every MFT market

Merchant enquiries for Rwanda are handled on +1 289 969 7309. It is MFT's regional merchant desk, not a local Rwanda line — one merchant channel deliberately covers every MFT market.

Best-fit sellers

Who MFT Rwanda works best for.

  • Kigali-based sellers testing structured fulfillment
  • Kenyan, Tanzanian and Ugandan sellers expanding into Rwanda
  • Beauty, fashion, wellness and accessories brands
  • Social commerce sellers with Kigali demand
  • Importers validating Rwandan demand before committing stock
  • Regional SMEs already inside the East Africa corridor

Cross-border routes

Cross-border routes from Rwanda.

Rwanda connects into the East Africa corridor, most practically with Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, depending on the route, product type, and documentation.

Rwanda fulfilment plan

  • What to bring: where your stock sits today, destination towns, monthly order volume and product type.
  • What comes back: the coverage rows that apply to you, COD terms in RWF, storage arrangement and anything that needs a route review.
Merchant use cases

How sellers typically use MFT in Rwanda.

Operational situations MFT supports — not endorsements or guaranteed outcomes.

Local sellers scaling in Rwanda

Brands graduating from self-fulfillment use MFT to hold stock, pack orders, and dispatch consistently across Rwanda as monthly volume grows.

Sellers handling cash on delivery

Operators whose buyers prefer COD use MFT's structured collection and remittance flow instead of chasing payments rider by rider.

Brands managing failed deliveries and returns

Sellers with high reattempt or returns volume use MFT's confirmed-before-dispatch flow plus PUDO collection to keep delivery costs under control.

These illustrate the kinds of seller and partner situations MFT typically supports. Exact scope, pricing, and outcomes depend on market, product category, route, and operating period.

FAQ

Common questions about MFT in Rwanda.

What's supported, which towns are covered, and how COD settles.

Kigali — Nyarugenge, Gasabo and Kicukiro — is the practical coverage base, served on scheduled dispatch runs rather than a daily same-day promise. Eastern, Southern, Northern and Western Province destinations such as Rwamagana, Huye, Musanze and Rubavu are quoted route by route at onboarding.

Rwanda is a pilot market for MFT, so the honest comparison is narrow: we run order preparation, buyer confirmation, scheduled Kigali delivery, COD in Rwandan francs and returns, and we do not operate a Rwandan warehouse or a PUDO network. Our ten-point checklist at /resources/fulfillment-companies-rwanda sets out what to ask any provider about storage location, confirmation, payout schedules and coverage.

Yes, on the Kigali runs. The rider verifies the buyer and order, collects cash or takes an MTN MoMo or Airtel Money payment, then releases the parcel. Collections are reconciled against your order list and remitted in Rwandan francs on an agreed cadence. A per-parcel value ceiling and eligible categories are agreed at onboarding; refused or unreachable orders are logged with a reason code and rescheduled or returned on the next leg.

In the East Africa corridor, not in Rwanda. MFT does not operate its own warehouse in Rwanda today, so stock is received, stored and picked at a corridor origin and moved into Kigali on scheduled runs. Local storage is only confirmed during route review against your product type and monthly volume.

Not yet. There is no MFT PUDO network in Rwanda, so orders are completed by door delivery in Kigali or, where a buyer cannot be reached, returned on the scheduled leg. PUDO is available in other MFT markets such as Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Yes. Rwanda sits inside our East Africa corridor with route-by-route movement from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. MFT coordinates the freight leg; customs clearance, permits and duties remain with the seller and their licensed broker.

MFT supports major cities and serviceable regions. Exact delivery coverage, timelines, COD availability, and PUDO options depend on location, product type, order volume, and operating route.
